It is about the same size as an esee 3 but without the finger choil and better size handles. Magnacut is hands down harder and tougher than 1095. The tip is more reinforced than the esee. Steel is the same thickness as the esee.

A handy knife with great performance. Great blade geometry and an ideal grind for woodworking and everyday tasks.

It appears to be an excellent knife and I love there method of customizing. Package comes with all the parts separate and I just put it together. It is a cool business model. I have not gotten a chance to beat it around yet so reserving judgement on the knife as a whole but it has a nice edge and quality looks excellent.

I have finally received my AK3.5 in Magnacut and my first impressions are well beyond my expectations, the handle (Burlap Micarta), although fat, its sits comfortable at my hand giving the feeling of a bigger knife, in other words its well locked in and excellent grip, but honestly its perfect, then it comes to the blade and blade shape, high saber grind, and its sliceciness is great while being thick enough (0.125in) to have peace of mind that it will hold if there is the necessity of using it very hard, by the way, it came razor sharp, literally. My overall experience while building this knife is great, very user friendly and you can select everything you want to be in your knife. I appreciate that Ethan and or his staff, sent me the Atwood paracord which was out of stock while ordering the knife, this speaks of great Customer Service and attention to detail. Will definitively come back to enhance my collection of AK knives for different purposes.

Excellent addition I am on the AK bandwagon I owned a 3.5 4.5 and 5.5 waiting for the 6.5 and the 8 in magnacut put a 90° spine and a 18° bevel and now it's one of my favorite everyday carries the 4.5 and the 5.5 are in magnacut . I enjoy each one!

I enjoy owning knives in a variety of steels, and most models I have in three different steels. So the AK 5.5 in magna cut is a very welcome addition to the collection. Leather sheath provides adequate sheath retention at this point, but already showing signs of loosening. Overall, a happy camper!

Choice of blade material, handle options. Shearh material and configuration freedom to choose! Great blade profiles and outstanding blade composition.

A true all-rounder. Blade is versatile being both slicey and robust enough for anything I would do with it. The jumping is too deep and sharp for my taste. The spine isn't 90 degree but I don't tend to use my knives on fire steels. Came perfectly sharp and symmetrical in the grinding. The handle is a great shape, plenty of girth for a good grip and long enough for a useful variety of grips. The Kydex sheath is an excellent fit with good retention, the lock is simple and effective, as is the leather backer - glad I chose that mounting option, I like the leather better than webbing that others like Lionsteel use. What's not perfect? The screws sink into the micarta a bit too much so there are raised edges around 5 of the 6 the screwholes. These are somewhat square edged so they do rub on the palm and fingers and with longer use I'm sure will cause hotspots. It seems to me that the milling on the micarta is a bit too deep so I can't tighten the screws up to secure the handle without leaving these irritating recesses (yes I'm using the correct spacers in each hole). Don't know if my handle is typical as I didn't read any other reviews with similar comments? All in, great value and service from AK. I would certainly buy again from this company.

Review Title Great Knives and Superior Customer Service

I already owned two Architect Knives: an AR 5.5 and AR 6.5 in Magnacut. I order an AK 8 in Magnacut. The knives are excellent. I don’t think you could get a better knife for the money. The customer service is the first class. I had a minor situation with the sheath.. I contacted Ethan, the owner, and he cleared up the situation quickly. I highly recommend these knives, and encourage people to support such an outstanding small business.
