I have this knife for two weeks now. Used it a lot everyday as a camp knife since i got it and i really like it. I mainly use this size of knife to chop, batonning, feather sticking and throw sparks to light a fire. I give it 4 stars because it’s a very nice knife but not a perfect one. It definitely worths the price for a USA made piece and their service/website is AMAZING.
Here’s few little things i’d change on it because i’m critique:
1- Add a sharp spine.
I had to make it myself so not a big deal
2- Loose handle.
The fit is good and the screws hold on it but the handles move when batonning. The handles are a littlebit smaller than the tang so you’re supposed to feel the tang all around the grip. Sometimes when batonning, the handle becomes flush on one side so you have to recenter it. It never went further than flush at least. It’s like there’s too much room for the screws in the tang. Also not a big deal imo
3- Bavel in the finger choil.
The primary grind leaves a bavel in the finger and it creates a “smile” when sharpening the knife(i always put my own edge on every new knife). It’s a little cosmetic issue but again, not a deal breaker for a beater.
Overall i’m really impressed with it’s performances.
This knife is a beast that should show wear and scars. Would certainly buy the Ak8 once the 3v is available. I recommend it without hesitation.
