Frequently Asked Questions
How easy is survival paracord to use?
You will find new ways to use paracord, we guarantee it! But before you head out into the bush, familiarize yourself with how to wrap a knife in paracord (if you’re new to this) or how to use it to raise a bear bag. Find a paracord guide or video online, then practice!
What does the term “tensile strength” mean in terms of survival paracord?
“Breaking strength” is another way to say “tensile strength”. Basically, that’s what the paracord can withstand before breaking. Most users prefer commercial grade 550 paracord that will only break once a weight limit of 550 pounds has been exceeded. Up to 550 pounds, the rope will hold.
What is Kernmantle rope?
Kernmantle rope is what we know as “paracord.” This type of rope consists of a varying number of inner strands held together by a braided casing. The military once used this type of rope to make parachutes, so Kernmantle rope is renowned for its tremendous strength!
